Spain is one of the most successful countries in the world when it comes to tourism. All regions of Spain have something to offer a tourist who decides to tour and so the experience in each region may be a little different from one place to the other.

Spain division is in such a way that there are autonomous regions. There are also two cities that are independent. Some of the autonomous regions especially those that have official languages spoken alongside Spanish have their known tradition that is quite historic. It is this history that one enjoys learning during a tour in Spain.

Some of the autonomous regions include Catalan, Balearic Islands, Valencia, Catalonia, Galicia, and the Basque country. They are also the most visited regions in Spain. Andalusia is also quite a popular part of Spain. A visit to the different regions in Spain will help one to appreciate the culture, language and traditions of the people to a great extent.

Understanding the Spanish regions is very important especially if you will want to know exactly where to go. By knowing the regions you can easily plan your trip and know the areas that can be matched together so that in the long run you will get the overall Spain experience.

Northwestern Spain covers Cantabria, Asturias and Galicia. Northern Spain covers la Rioja, Navarre and the Basque country. Northeastern Spain covers Aragon and Catolina. Central Spain covers Extremadura, castile-Leon, castile-la Mancha as well as the community of Madrid. Valencia and Murcia are in eastern Spain. Other areas include Canary Islands, Balearic Islands as well as Andalucía. The two autonomous cities are Melilla and Ceuta.

There are many cities in Spain that are worth visiting. These have all the necessary facilities especially to cater for tourism needs. The cities are actually the best areas to start a tour before moving out to the rural areas.

Out of the many cities in Spain, nine are more popular than others. These include Zaragoza, Valencia, Seville, Granada, Cordoba, Cadiz, Bilbao, Barcelona and of course Madrid. Madrid is the capital city and its location makes it very easy to communicate with all other regions of Spain. Look out for the museums, architecture as well as the food and the amazing nightlife.

The second largest city is Barcelona and it has some very modernist buildings and great cultural life. The oldest city in all of western Spain is Cadiz. It has some 4,000 years of history. It also has a very famous carnival which makes it all the more attractive. All the cities are worth a visit.
